The Principal Cloud Network Infrastructure Architect will play a pivotal role in the scoping, design, and development of Ascend Cloud Solutions cloud network infrastructure. This position requires a visionary leader capable of building scalable, repeatable, and service-agnostic network infrastructures that facilitate seamless service consumption and Layer2 adjacency across services.

Job Role and Responsibility

As a Principal Cloud Network Infrastructure Architect you will be responsible for scoping, designing, implementing and planning the day-to-day operation and support of our new cloud network infrastructure. Ascend Cloud Solutions wants to build infrastructure that is scalable, repeatable, and agnostic to any services running on it. Prospective Customers should be able to consume any of the new cloud services and have Layer 2 adjacency across them.

To be successful in this role, you are a highly motivated individual as well as a self-learner, possess strong technical and analytical skills; and someone who welcomes challenges.

• Scoping network infrastructure features to meet project objectives 
• Designing a verifiable test plan and strategy for cloud network infrastructure 
• Evaluating vendors for technology solutions based on price, support, and operability 
• Identifying key automation requirements for deployment configuration, and day to day operations and support 
• Developing and maintaining network service roadmaps Producing comprehensive documentation for the network's deployment, configuration, and operation 
• Leading a team of architects and engineers, delegating tasks as necessary
• Provide technical leadership for the establishment, and implementation of end-to-end network infrastructure and services

Required Core Skills

Required Technical Skills

• Extensive experience in network infrastructure design, preferably in cloud environments 
• Experience in the Day 0/Day 1/Day 2 phase of network infrastructure lifecycle 
• Experience in network automation technologies for deployment, configuration, and operation 
• Deep understanding of networking technologies such as MPLS/BGP, routing, switching, SDN/NFV, EVPN, VXLAN, QinQ 
• Proven track record of evaluating and selecting technology vendors
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing technical teams 
• Excellent documentation and communication skills

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, information systems, information technology, or a related field required or relevant industry experience 
• Background in Network design and implementation 
• Experience in Virtualisation & Cloud computing Experience with firewalls and security related issues 
• Relevant industry network certifications (CCNA/CCNP/CCIE or other vendor equivalents) 
• Relevant architecture and framework development certifications (TOGAF/ITIL) etc. Linux command-line skills and shell scripting and/or programming

Location

Remote with an ability to attend in-person meetings 2-4 times per month in Cork, Ireland
